What started as conversations around family dinners eventually grew into a shared dream between two brothers and their wives. Inspired by a glamping experience on Canada's East Coast in 2018, we saw an opportunity to bring something different to Ontario — a place where guests could reconnect with nature without sacrificing comfort, and where every stay felt memorable, meaningful, and a little bit magical.

Meet the Owners & Founders – The McIntoshs
Inspired by a glamping experience on Canada's East Coast in 2018, two brothers and their wives set out to create something special in Ontario. What began as a shared dream around the family dinner table has since grown into Back Forty Glamping — a destination designed to help guests reconnect with nature, celebrate meaningful moments, and experience glamping in every season. While Back Forty has grown over the years, it remains a family-run business shaped by the unique strengths of each founder and a shared commitment to exceptional guest experiences. Ben, often known as the "think tank" of the family, brings a background in construction and a passion for creative problem-solving. From custom dome features to unique amenities, many of the special touches throughout the property began as ideas sketched around the kitchen table.
Scott left a career in education to help bring the vision to life and now oversees project management, development, planning, and the many moving parts that keep Back Forty growing. With backgrounds in healthcare, Alyssa and Elizabeth have always been passionate about caring for others. Together, they help shape the guest experience through thoughtful design, hospitality, marketing, and the countless details that make a stay at Back Forty feel special. As a family-run business, every decision is guided by one question: "How can we create an experience our guests will remember long after they leave?"

No introduction to Back Forty would be complete without mentioning Forty, our four-legged team member and unofficial welcoming committee.
You may spot her greeting guests, wandering the trails, supervising the maintenance team, or keeping a watchful eye on the local wildlife. Known for her gentle personality and endless curiosity, Forty has become a favourite among many returning guests.
If you’re lucky, she might just stop by to say hello during your stay.

From planning special celebrations and preparing domes for arrival to maintaining the property throughout every season, each member of the Back Forty team plays an important role in creating the welcoming atmosphere our guests know and love.
Jacqueline – Guest Service Manager
Jacqueline is often the first connection guests have with Back Forty. You'll find her coordinating stays, answering questions, and helping create memorable moments from arrival to departure. With a genuine passion for hospitality and thoughtful attention to detail, she works behind the scenes to ensure every guest experience feels effortless, personal, and unforgettable.
Sydney – On-Site Manager
Sydney is our on-site coordinator, helping ensure every guest enjoys a seamless and memorable stay. From overseeing changeovers and quality control to coordinating add-ons and supporting guests during their visit, she keeps the many moving parts of Back Forty running smoothly with creativity, organization, and heart.
Alex – Maintenance Manager
Alex helps keep Back Forty operating flawlessly behind the scenes. A true jack of all trades, he tackles everything from snow removal and landscaping to hot tub maintenance and repairs. Known for his quick thinking and problem-solving skills, Alex is always ready to lend a hand and help ensure guests can simply relax and enjoy their stay.
